Ai Stillman Annis
Vital Statistics
He was first a schoolteacher and Lucy Walbridge had been one of his pupils.
He attended Boston University Medical School and in 1894 began a medical prcatice in
Rochester, NH. He had a large practice for many years until he lost his license over an
abortion scandal. He was accussed of performing an abortion on a girl who later died of
complications. He claimed that he had turned her away, as abortions were illegal at the
time, but the witness that heared him turn the girl away never showed up at the trial. It
is rumored that the other family bought the witness off. For years after his death,
someone anonymously put flowers on his grave, could it have been the reluctant witness?
He was the doctor at Allen Street School from abt. 1909 to 1911. Click here to see a picture of his house on Knight St. at
